About Us

/uːˈmoːdʒa/ means 'unity' in Kiswahili. That's exactly what this is.

umoja.fm is an independent, digital-first, community-powered pan-african radio station. Dedicated to showcasing the vibrant spectrum of African Electronic Dance Music (AEDM) 24/7. Amapiano, Afro House, Gqom, Afro Tech, 3-Step, Bigroom and everything in between or what has not even been invented yet. The sounds coming out of Nairobi, Johannesburg, Dar Es Salaam, Lusaka, Kampala, Addis Abeba, Lilongwe, Dakar, Abidjan, Kinshasa, Lagos, Accra and every other city where the continent is dancing - reaching the diaspora worldwide.

We're the sonic bridge between Africa's club culture and the global electronic scene. From the continent to the world.

Radio for the culture

No Algorithms. Real Curators. We are building umoja.fm because the artists behind these sounds — independent producers and DJs building scenes city by city — deserve a home frequency of their own. Not a footnote in someone else's playlist. Their own station.

Our mission

Connect, celebrate, and elevate Africa's electronic music culture. The continent is listening. The world is catching up.

We're launching soon. Be part of it from day one
